My name is Robert Tinney; I live in Chester Heights, PA, 20 minutes from Philadelphia.
Earlier today, I walked into the Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic cemetery directly behind my house, as I often do. I would estimate that I have visited this cemetery hundreds of times and have become familiar with the gravesites of many of our veterans buried there. Today, however, I came across a gravesite, not noticed before, of Private John Dowling, noted above. When I got on the computer and pulled up the 314th website I noticed that, while many of the 314th infantry soldiers killed in WWI are buried in known places, that private Dowling had no identified burial site. Well, that is no longer the case. |
